Description of Webinar:

SFBT continues to grow in popularity, and has been ‘doing what works’ for the last forty years. It is a post- modern, systemic and co-constructive approach that focuses on asking questions as its main interventions and builds on what is working for the client. It is a useful modality for the couple and family therapist with its focus on utilization and pragmatism. This webinar will highlight the recent research on hope and the brain that clearly demonstrate SFBT as an effective, strength-based and brief approach. The webinar will also present an abbreviated history, philosophy and theory, the five main interventions with a focus on how to apply them systemically and relationally, and how to use SFBT effectively even in a single session!  This workshop will also explain and demonstrate the efficacy of micro-questions and micro-analysis – the art of SFBT!

In this webinar participants will learn:

  • The hope theory and how it mirrors the SFBT philosophy
  • The brain research on how change happens
  • The systemic theory and assumptions of SFBT
  • The five main SFBT interventions and how to use them systemically and relationally
  • How to use SFBT effectively in a single session and why SFBT is a good fit for SST
  • Specific interventions and techniques for couples and families, including micro questions and micro-analysis.
