About Mike Fidler, MSW, RSW, Master Trainer Gottman Institute

Mike Fidler has a Master of Social Work degree and is a Registered Social Worker. Mike has advanced training in forensic profiling of sexual assault perpetrators of adult and child victims through Kingston Penitentiary and The Clark Institute’s, forensic psychologists, and FBI, specialist profiler.   He has been trained as a custody access mediator through the University of Toronto, has a certificate from the University of Toronto in Psychosocial Factors in Rehabilitation, has an Advanced Family Therapy training certificate from the George Hull Family and Children’s Centre and has a certificate in Addiction Studies from the University of Toronto. Mike is a certified Substance Abuse Professional under NAFTA DOT USA. Mike has completed his advanced training using John Gottman Marital Assessment and Intervention Techniques through the John Gottman Institute in Seattle, Washington. He is a certified Gottman couple’s therapist and Certified Master Trainer with the Gottman Institute. Mike has advanced training in emotionally focused couple’s therapy.  He has his advanced level training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy as an attachment and trauma therapist for children and youth with Daniel Hughes.

He worked at the Haldimand Norfolk Children’s Aid Society for twelve years as a child abuse specialist, taught provincially & nationally for over six years for the Institute for the Prevention of Child Abuse.  Mike co-taught with police trainers, child abuse investigation techniques to senior investigators in policing and child welfare.  He has been in private clinical practice since 1984 and manages Positive Relationship Inc.  Mike trains clinicians in Gottman Couples Therapy Methods and is a clinical consultant to couple’s therapists. Mike has volunteered for over thirty years as a marriage preparation trainer and is an international couple’s workshop leader.
