Session Description:

As a result of the global pandemic and the subsequent mental health crisis, a majority of workers, and mental health professionals especially, report feeling professionally burned out. Burnout is a term that is often used but is rarely understood. We become burned out when chronic work demands surpass our available resources.  When we become burned out, we experience a loss of sense of purpose and efficacy, decreased mental and physical energy, and increased feelings of scarcity and self-doubt.  This has significant impact on all areas of our lives. Recovery from burnout is possible, but we must make necessary changes to our personal lives and our professional environments. Drawing on research from shame and vulnerability expert Dr. Brené Brown and burnout expert Jennifer Moss, Licensed Professional Counsellor Mazi Robinson will discuss the causes and symptoms of burnout and how implementing strategies of shame resilience, identifying our emotion and inner story, and setting healthy boundaries will move us forward in recovery and protect our work in the mental health profession.
